
PeerfactSim.KOM is a discrete event based P2P Simulator written in Java. It was launched as a project at the Multimedia Communications Lab (KOM) for the simulation of large-scale peer-to-peer systems. The idea of this project was and still is to develop and maintain a simulator, that fits to a large amount of use cases and enables the simulation of different scenarios in the area of peer-to-peer.
After its beginning at KOM, it has been used as a simulation tool in several research projects, like in the first and second phase of QuaP2P [1] as well as in the CONTENT [2] project. Moreover, the simulator was used in several publications (as listed in the publications section) to test, evaluate and compare new applications, overlays and mechanisms from the peer-to-peer area.
The simulator is released under the GNU General Public License v3 and can currently be downloaded from the Download section. When referencing PeerfactSim.KOM in a publication, please use the following publication as reference:
